The Silk Trading Co. is known for its luxury textiles,
drapery, paint and home furnishings.
The 26 showroom locations and custom department inspire celebrities, top-ranked
interior designers, and trendy clients alike to realize their own style,
selecting from our exclusive fabric and product line.
All of our stores are staffed with in-house design consultants.
Warren and Andrea Kay opened the Silk Trading Co. in Los
Angeles in 1992. Though the
company is always expanding, the owners are still involved in the design and
selection of all fabrics and products.
There are currently over 26 showrooms nationwide, for retail and the trade
alike. The Silk Trading Co. is a
design house “…with a signature style.
It is luxurious, with classical derivatives, detailed work that is not studied
or indulgent. We try to do rooms
that you can wake up in five or ten years from now and they won’t look
dated.”—Andrea Kay, Owner.
In 2001, The Silk Trading Co. introduced a line of ready made
drapes called Drapery Out-of-a-Box.
This exclusive line consists of our best selling custom drapery designs and
textiles. The innovative idea
behind the Drapery Out-of-a-Box collection was to address our clients’
overwhelming desire for immediate decorating gratification; what sets this line
apart is its custom quality tailoring and our trademark silk.
Our ready made drapes accommodate most windows, and are offered in
numerous styles and sizes.
Our furniture collection reflects our showroom—traditional to
modern styles—made-to-order in any of our luxury textiles.
Sophisticated interiors, sleek urban lofts, meditation pillows and
delightful doggy beds—we have made it all.
The latest addition to the Silk Trading Co.’s complete home
collection, is our line of Asian Decorative Furniture.
These pieces further our colonial East-and-West trading story.
Influenced by Asian Arts & Crafts and British Colonial styles, the
collection comprises of one-off ageless pieces.
Each piece is hand selected overseas and are readily available at any of
our retail showrooms.
The Silk Trading Co. also places social action on our yearly
calendar, in both our local and world communities. We are grateful for our success and always try to “give back,” by
actively participating in charitable organizations and by donating our
products. The Silk Trading Co.
initiated a program in which we give fabric to museums and to schools for arts
and crafts, artistic and theatrical productions and oftentimes simply to
beautify their space.
The Silk Trading Co. is also the proud recipient of the
prestigious Elle Deco Design Award, 2003.
“Business is simple; The Silk Trading Co. client wants design,
quality, value and service. We are
simply the best—that is why our customers come back.” –Warren Kay, Owner.
