Dahl Style
A part of the Silk Trading Co.’s Drapery Out-of-a-Box line. The header is clean and simple, with no pleating or gathers.

Directoire Style
A part of the Silk Trading Co.’s Drapery Out-of-a-Box line. The header has a generous cuff and is gathered in back slightly by use of a cloth ribbon for adjustable fold.

Double Width
Describes the amount of fabric “widths” used in a drapery panel; an average width of fabric being 54” wide. In this case, two widths of fabric are used for one panel, usually incorporating pleated or gathered headers.
Drapery Hooks
A special shaped pin used at the drape’s heading used to hang drapery on rings or traverse rods. Featured in select Drapery Out-of-a-Box styles.
Drapery Weights
Small flat weights used at the bottom corners of drapery panels to help them hang properly. Featured with all Drapery Out-of-a-Box styles.
Finished Length
The overall length of a drapery panel after work is completed.
Finished Width
The overall width of a drapery panel after work is completed, including any sewn in pleats or gathering.
Interlining
An extra layer of lining used in between the face fabric and the regular lining. Adds fullness and weight, as well as aids in insulation. Featured in select Drapery Out-of-a-Box styles.
Madison Style
A part of the Silk Trading Co.’s Drapery Out-of-a-Box line. The header has inverted box pleats for a tailored look, with an overall effect of fullness.

A part of the Silk Trading Co.’s Drapery Out-of-a-Box line. The header has a two inch top flange and a three inch rod pocket.

Odessa Style

Puddle
An option in which the drapery length has excess fabric that “puddles” on the floor.
Rod Pocket
A hollow sleeve in which a drapery rod is inserted. See our Mila Style drapery in our Drapery Out-of-a-Box collection for our many available styles and colors.

Single Width
Describes the amount of fabric “widths” used in a drapery panel; an average width of fabric being 54” wide. In this case, one width of fabric is used for one panel, usually coincides with flat panels with no pleats.

Brocade
A rich, heavy fabric with intricate designs, characterized by its specific weave, giving the motif or figures a raised "embossed" effect. Yardage in many styles and colors available.

Como Silk
The Silk Trading Co.'s exclusive line similar to dupioni silk, but with denser threads and more consistent quality. Named after the "silk capital" in northern Italy. Higher sheen, subtle slubbing. Comes in solid and dual-toned finishes. Yardage available as well as ready made drapery and pillows.

Damask
A fabric originating in Damascus dating back to the Roman empire, damask is a specially woven silk, linen or cotton created on a loom to create intricate designs and patterns. Different looms were used over the centuries as technology progressed, and the technique was kept a "trade secret." Damask fabrics are usually of the heavier weight, used for upholstery and wall covering. Yardage in many styles and colors available. Perfect for use with our hand-made custom furniture.

Dupioni
Made from dupion silk yarns (uneven double strands of silk) that are woven together instead of being separated, which create uneven striations or slubbing in the fabric. See our Como Silk line for a refined, contemporary version.
Foulard
First made for the handkerchief trade in India, foulard has a soft finish and normally carries a small print over a contrasting background. Most well-known for its use in neckties. Yardage in many styles and colors available.
Jacquard
A damask-like fabric woven on a special loom created by Joseph Marie Jacquard in the early 1800's that enabled the weavers to create elaborate and intricate patterns in a more functional and efficient manner. Yardage in many styles and colors available. Perfect for use with our hand-made custom furniture.

Linen
A light, natural fabric woven from threads made of fibers from the flax plant. Available in our ready made drapery.

Matelasse
A light, natural fabric woven from threads made of fibers from the flax plant. Available in our ready made drapery.
Mohair
Made from the luxurious fleece of the Angora goat. It is stronger than wool with a smooth, glossy finish. Yardage available in our Mohair Velvet, in several colors.

Ombre
A pattern woven into a fabric with shades of color graduating from light to dark, creating a striped effect. Available in several styles and colors in our Signature Textile line.
Organza
A thin, formal sheer silk. Lightweight and crisp. Comes in solid, dual-toned, and metallic finishes. Available in yardage as well as our ready made drapery.
Pattern Repeat
The distance from one point in a pattern, to the next point where it is repeated. Beneficial to measure into the construction and application of a patterned textile.
Pique' Taffeta
Silk taffeta with small diamond, honeycomb, or waffle pattern. Available in yardage as well as our ready made drapery.
